GENESIS

In globalized markets, where change becomes the "new normal", local businesses are facing greater legal and business risks. Seeing this, Lily Chang-Chien and partners, these experienced attorneys and believers of teamwork, started up Aequitas Law Firm, to extend and enhance their professional services to clients, to better see what they see. Since 2012, the Firm has embraced accountability, caring, and activism in the services, enabling clients to make better informed decisions.

WHAT'S IN A NAME

The Chinese characters ("Da", "Yin") of our name borrow from two Chinese classics: "Da" is from the text of Daodejing ("道德經", a bible of Taoism), meaning openness; "Yin" is from the text of Zuozhuan ("左傳", the oldest history book of China), meaning governance. "Da Yin" therefore implies the Firm's due caring and stewardship for clients' legal risks. The English name of the Firm, aequitas, means fairness, justice and equity in Latin, and implies responsible planning and management for clients' interest. The names thus manifest the values we abide by: accountability, caring, and activism.

The Firm is therefore ready to advise clients in: civil / criminal / administrative lawsuits, mergers and acquisitions, cross-border investments, finance and derivatives, securities and capital markets, labor relationship, intellectual properties, competition law and consumer protection, biotechnology, cultural and creative industry, real property, succession planning.

To better advise clients, the Firm in 2013 welcomes attorneys Kuo-Shu Peng (served in the police, the Petition Committee of the Ministry of the Interiors, and in the Supreme Court) on board to provide fuller legal solutions for clients.

We, Aequitas Law Firm, are delighted to welcome Mr. YENTING LIU, attorney-at-law, and Mr. MENGYU HSIEH, attorney-at-law, to join our firm in March of 2024. Attorney Liu previously served as a partner at Giant Group Law Firm, where he protected the rights and interests of many clients when representing them in a wide range of high-profile cases (such as contests over corporate control, corporate/business disputes and litigations, and family inheritance disputes). Many clients deeply trust Attorney Liu and rely on his professional advice and services. Attorney Hsieh once served as the director of the Legal Aid Foundation, advocating for the rights of clients in many prestigious administrative litigation cases related to environmental assessment disputes, mining disputes, election disputes, and indigenous peoples' rights, earning high recognition from both clients and peers We believe that Attorney Liu and Attorney Hsieh will provide the clients with even more comprehensive and high-quality services in the future.
